Our New BMW R18 Classic Windshield Design
Clearview Shields new BMW R18 Classic windshield design ensures a quiet comfortable ride over the stock screen. With improved design ques to insure optimal wind management. Increased width and recurve design help to move the air around the passenger creating a clear view of the road, and improved comfortability.
Note: The height is measured from the top of the headlight cutout to the top edge of the screen
(Stock screen height is 16″)
Small- 18″ (1.5″ wider than stock)
Medium- 19.5″ ( 1.5″ wider then stock)
Large- 21″ (3″ wider then stock)
The new Clearview Shields R18 Classic windshield is wider than the stock screen to improve wind management. The BMW R18C 18″ and19.5″ screens are 1.5″ wider then the stock screen. The 21″ screen is 3″ wider than the stock BMW windshield to keep the taller screen proportionate.
By increasing the width of the screen you in turn create a bigger pocket of air for the rider and passenger to ride comfortably in. Along with the increased width, the profile of the screen is shaped to help create a bigger pocket of air for the rider. The top portion of the screen maintains a wider profile with a flat top design. The new R18 Classic design will help reduce head buffeting at high speeds.

With over 35 years of experience, Clearview Shields new R18 Classic design creates a quiet and comfortable ride for both the rider and passenger. There are a few ways Clearview Shields has achieved this improved design.
Recurve:
Our recurve option moves the air flow 1.5-2″ higher off the top edge. This allows the rider to have a Clearview of the road ahead while maintaining optimal wind coverage. This recurve design is distortion free and will increase the rigidity of the windshield.
Width:
With the increased width of our windshield, both the rider and passenger will have a bigger pocket of air to sit in. With this bigger pocket of air will come a quieter ride, allowing you to clearly hear what’s going on around you.
Flattop:
Along with the increased width maintained through the top portion of the screen is the flattop design. This design not only gives the R18C a classic look, but allows for a wider portion of the screen to use our enhanced recurve design. This enhanced design will give you additional lift across the flattop portion of the windshield. Increasing the performance of the screen without the need to increase the windshield height. Giving the rider a Clearview of the road ahead.

I generally pay people to put accessories on a few of my motorcycles. Well, let me tell you the quality of this windshield and how easy it went on the R 18 and now one of the biggest complaints about the factory windshield has been solved. It kicks the wind over your helmet and around your body what an incredible product great job guys and gals.

It fit on the OEM bracket perfectly. Maybe provide a slightly higher durometer washer for the bolts, but other than that, installation was easy. The wind buffeting was improved for speeds under 65-70mph, but not much for anything over that. I kept the same height as the OEM shield with the recurve top. I’m 5′-7″ and riding on the stock seat.

It doesn’t block as much wind as I had hoped. But that is not a flaw of the windshield. It does a much better job than my stock windshield. Looks great and fit quite well with simple installation

Fantastic quality and great upgrade from the OEM windscreen on the r18 classic. Much quieter and easier ride particularly between 40-70 mph. Doesn’t eliminate all the buffeting at higher speeds, but it’s MUCH better. Well worth the investment.

The original windshield on my 2021 BMW R18 Classic was adequate but not great. I ordered a new larger windshield replacement from Clearview Shields to add additional wind protection. The new windshield is clear and approximately 6 inches higher and 3 inches wider than my original. I also ordered it with a recurve at the top. I live in the desert where the wind often blows at 20 to 30 MPH on the flat stretches of my rides. I took my motorcycle on a long ride the first day that I installed my new windshield. I found that my new Clearview Shield performed excellent in sustained wind. I am very happy with my purchase!

Can I give it 10 stars? I have an easy version, 20-21 tall, curved and wide. Buffeting on the R18 Classic with the original shield was abhorrent. This shield does it all; totally eliminates buffeting, wider, keeping bugs off bars better, I kinda wish Id got the lower one. I can overlook the shield top, but have to sit upright, as you know longer riding days, one wants to sit back and just cruise. Also, can it be made a bit wider? The fit is perfect, quality control is exemplary, these guys are artisans. Customer support is what it should -great, but alas not as common these days.
